FlickrBox
The Official Home of FlickrBox.
FlickrBox is a WordPress Widget which allows you to display photos from your Flickr account on your blog. Not only does the widget contain thumbnails formatted to your preferences, but the full-size images display using Slimbox. The widget is on this very page on the right hand side, so give it a click to see it in action.

Using the control panel accessed through your wp-admin dashboard, you can configure the display of FlickrBox.

Get your Flickr API Key and Secret
Before you can setup your blog to pull in your Flickr photos, you need to get your own Flickr API Key and Secret.
“I already have an API Key!”
Well then go and grab it from http://www.flickr.com/services/api/keys. You should be able to get your secret from their too.
“An API Key? What’s that?”
You can generate an API key at http://www.flickr.com/services/api/key.gne (you need to log in to your Flickr account). Here’s how…
- Head on over to http://www.flickr.com/services/api/key.gne and log in if you have to.
- Up pops the Flickr API screen!
- Where it says “describe your application” simply put something like “Displaying photos on my blog”.
- On the next page you will get your key. Following the instructions to “Click here to configure user authentication for this key.”
- You don’t need to fill in any additional details, but you might want to add your blog’s title and perhaps a description. Then jot down, or copy and paste, both the API Key and the Shared Secret. You’ll need them!
Installation
Got your API Key and Secret? Well then you can close down your Flickr window and head on over to WordPress.
- Unzip FlickrBox.zip into your /wp-content/plugins/ directory. If you’re uploading it make sure to upload the top-level folder. Don’t just upload all the php files and put them in /wp-content/plugins/
- Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
- Head on over to widgets and add the FlickrBox widget to your sidebar
- Edit the options, and make sure you include you Flickr API Key and API Secret. You’ll also need either a Set ID or username. This is most likely your username, though there’s nothing stopping you from displaying other people’s photos. You might want to ask their permission first!
- You’re done.
